About Peace

The Church Family

Peace Lutheran Church is a small, modest, friendly congregation comprised of multi-generational families as well as new young families. Our members live in the City of Port Clinton and in the nearby communities of Oak Harbor, Catawba and Marblehead. We enjoy being together socially, as well as spiritually. Blessed with an abundance of surrounding property, we created “Peace Park”, complete with a large barbeque pit used for gala picnics and other celebrations.

Worship and Music

Our weekly Worship Services are held at 11:00AM Sunday mornings, Mid-week Services are also conducted during Lent. Holy Communion is offered on the first and third Sundays of the month as well as on church festivals. We have two women’s Circle groups meet monthly. Our Women of the Church (CORE) organization meets several times each year and holds numerous annual events/fund raisers.
Peace is often referred to as “the friendliest church in town” and is also well known as the “congregation that loves to sing”. We have a small but mighty church choir. We share two accomplished organists/keyboard players with other churches on a regularly scheduled basis. Our sound technician has recently recorded the entire liturgy and many hymns so that we are able to conduct services even if an organist is not available.

We have a youth Bell Choir, which performs several times each year. We enjoy both traditional and more modern music including spiritual and ethnic works. We are very much interested in developing an alternate Praise Service.

Outreach

Our Fellowship Hall is used by several community organizations including the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Quilters Guild. The Women of the Church provide bereavement meals upon request. We participate with and/or contribute to: Via DiCristo alums, Firelands Food Pantry, Cherry Street Mission, Holiday Bureau, Lutheran World Relief, County Mental Health Assoc., Ruth Ann’s House (abused women and children), Heifer Fund, Quilts to Veterans, Children’s Hospital and the Linus Project, Joyful Connections (common meeting place for divorced couples to exchange children), LOMO, Ecumenical Gathering Meals, Holiday Bureau, Christmas Mitten Tree, Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, sister church in Tanzania, Seminary, Luther Home.

Christian Education

We believe that Christian Education is from “Birth to Grave”. Our Sunday School, (10 am year round – Pre K through adult), has many talented leaders working together to keep the program relevant to our congregation’s needs. Our young people’s curriculum is based on a rotation model emphasizing selected Bible stories.
